                We have all heard the Kovalan and Kannagi love story. Reflexivity is a piece of jewellery for a woman. It id very difficult for a woman to live in a society that protects her dignity. In the present as well as in the past, there were few woman who lived a life of chastity and devotion to their husbands. But Kannagi is a woman who belonged to that small group.

 

When her husband Kovalan was comforted by a city dweller named Madhavi, she maintained her chastity in his name. Although Kovalan was close to Madhavi, he felt kannagi's affection more than Madhavi. Eventually Kovalan left Madhavi and went back to kannagi. Kannagi welcomed him warmly. But Kovalan gifted all his wealth to Madhavi,so they had no way to make a living. So they decided to leave their country and sell kannagi's golden anklets to make a living. On the way, Kannagi stops at a house until Kovalan returns. He only had one of her anklets for sale. At the same time Madhavi had a child from Kovalan.

 

Somehow, Kovalan comes to town to sell golden anklet. At that time the queen of the king of that country had also lost her anklet. Because of the queen's anklet's appearance, the merchant became suspicious and handed Kovalan over to the king. Meanwhile Kovalan didn't come and Kannagi come looking for him. But the king says to kill Kovalan without looking for anything. The soldiers obey order and kill Kovalan. At that moment Kannagi comes there with her other anklet. Kannagi shows everyone that the queen's anklet had pearls and that her anklet had gems. But by then her husband wad dead. The king understood what had happened. He apologized to Kannagi. But instead of apologizing, she avenged her husband's death.

 

        By the power of her chastity she struck her left breast on the ground and set the whole city on fire. She has been considered a deity ever since because of her chastity. Let us worship Goddess Pattini who wishes for future enlightenment🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏.
